What Your Child Will Need
When your child starts dance, the clothing might feel a little unfamiliar—but it’s actually designed to help them move safely, learn proper technique, and feel confident in class.
Each style of dance has its own type of clothing and shoes, but don’t worry—we keep it simple and are always here to help.
Mommy & Me
Any comfortable clothes to move and dance in. Students and parents should have either bare feet, socks
with sticky bottoms or dance slippers.
Hip-Hop (13 Years & Under)
ECDA Navy Sweat Pants, ECDA White T-Shirt.
Footwear: (Competitive Dancers) Black Chuck Taylor High-Top Sneakers (Non-Competitive Dancers) May wear their
own style (non-marking) black indoor sneakers.
•ECDA Sweat Pants ($30) and ECDA T-Shirts ($20) are available at the studio office for purchase.
•Chuck Taylor Sneakers can be found at stores such as Soft Moc and Sports Check.
Hip-Hop (14 Years and Older)
Black leggings or sweat pants. Own style t-shirt or tank top. Footwear: (Competitive Dancers) white air force style
sneakers (all white).
Creative Movement 1 & 2 Ages 3-4
Violet (light purple) Bodysuit, Ballet Pink Tights, Ballet Pink Full-Sole Leather Ballet Shoe. (Violet Skirt is optional).
Hair should be in a bun or tidy ponytail.
OR
Black Shorts, White T-Shirt and Black Ballet Shoe.

Pre-Level & Primary (Ballet, Tap/Jazz/Acro)
Ballet:
Pink Bodysuit, Ballet Pink Tights, Ballet Pink Full-Sole Leather Ballet Shoe. (Pink Skirt is optional). Hair should be in
a bun or tidy ponytail.

Tap/Jazz/

Lev. 5 & 6 Classes (Ballet, Tap/Jazz/Modern/Contemp/Acro)
Ballet:
Black Bodysuit, Ballet Pink Tights, Ballet Pink Canvas Ballet Shoe, Pink Pointe Shoes (recommendation only). Hair
should be in a bun.
All Items above (Excluding pointe shoes) are available at studio office for purchase.
Tap/Jazz/Modern/Contemp:
Black Leggings and Black Top/Sports Bra, Black Jazz & Black Tap Shoes. Hair should be in a bun or tidy ponytail.

Adult Classes:
All Adult classes may wear their own colours of dancewear. Dancewear must be appropriate to the style of dancing in
which enrolled. All footwear must be non-marking and indoor only please!
Wear to Buy:
ECDA sells most uniform requirements such as bodysuits, tights and ballet slippers as well as our Hip-Hop uniforms.
To fill your other needs for dance clothing purchases we recommend Pulse Performance, Metro Dance Supply,
Centre Stage Dancewear or online stores like Discount Dance Supply. Twiggs in Mic Mac Mall also sells, dance shoes, tights and some dance accessories.
